Rwandan coffee is usually pretty tasty, but it tastes even better when there's an awesome story to go along with it. The Gisuma cooperative was founded in 2009 by a group of women farmers with the goal of improving their livelihoods by growing higher quality coffee crops. By pooling together their resources they have been able to invest in growing and milling infrastructure, and have furnished their 182 co-op members with health insurance. As the cooperative continues to advance their techniques, several Gisuma members have seen their coffees recieve top awards at Rwandan national competitions.

These luscious red bourbon coffee beans pack a punch when it comes to flavor, with a juicy red grape note providing a great body to the cup. A subtle honeysuckle note provides some sweetness and a touch of vegetal taste. A hint of tartaric acid makes this coffee slightly reminiscent of wine, which lends a bit more character to the grape note and makes for a fantastic finish. We love this coffee, and we hope you do too!
