The Origin Story
A Brief History of the AeroPress
The AeroPress was invented in 2005 by Alan Adler, founder of Aerobie Inc.—the same company behind the famous Aerobie Flying Ring. Adler, an engineer and inventor by trade, originally conceived the device to make espresso-like concentration at a fraction of the price of traditional espresso machines.
What Adler created quickly transcended its original purpose. The AeroPress was adopted by coffee enthusiasts worldwide for all types of coffee preparation, not just espresso-style brews. Made from durable plastic, it proved perfect for travelers: virtually unbreakable, a breeze to clean, and compact enough to tuck into any bag for a single cup anywhere.
Today the AeroPress enjoys global popularity and even has its own annual World AeroPress Championship, where baristas from around the world compete with their most creative recipes. It's a testament to how a simple, well-designed tool can transform the way people experience coffee.
