We’re very excited to have coffee from Fazenda Juquinha back in the rotation - we’ve been dreaming about last year’s lot since we first roasted it! Siblings Roseane and Weder inherited the land as a soy and corn farm from their late father and decided to pivot to producing specialty coffee just a few years ago. Roseane’s husband Ivan joined to help with the transition and establishing the business, and now they’re growing over 40,000 Yellow Catuai and Catucai plants and producing a good volume of specialty lots using different processes. This lot is a tried-and-true Brazilian Natural - which means you can expect big, bright flavors! It’s always great to see the same producers year-over-year, and we couldn’t be happier to report that the coffee lives up to high expectations!

We’re seeing plenty of action in this cup, with a sweet floral note upfront that reminds us of honeysuckle. Bright acidity and sweetness akin to guava or other tropical fruit is prevalent throughout, alongside a juicy berry tartness. We love coffees like this with plenty going on flavor-wise, it feels like you discover a new layer or accent with subsequent brews - and we’ve certainly been brewing plenty since the beans arrived.

Superb, flavorful, complex coffee

Surprisingly flavorful coffee - with a hint of fruit, lots of floral notes, and a lingering flavor of charred vanilla. A smooth flavor profile that nonetheless packs a nice punch from the get-go and rounds out and lingers nicely. I found myself taking a sip, enjoying it, and wanting to go right back, to extend the flavor. Had to dial it in just a bit (primarily the grind size), which took only one try. Once it was there, delivered consistent flavor notes. I like my coffees even a bit more sour and fruit-flavored. But I was still surprised at how elegant and complex the notes in this coffee were, once the initial pleasant fruit 'bite' gave way to smoother, sweeter notes.

Great stuff

Really enjoying Juquinha #2. Exceptionally well-balanced, given the complexity here. Smooth with a mid-mouth punch. Acid, but not too much. Floral, berry, and...chocolate?...dance together nicely. Very easy-drinking but rewards those who savor. Great coffee.

Juquinha #2

Easy drinking, nicely balanced, smooth. Although nothing to write home about, this is a typical coffee from Moustache--very good, always a little different than the last one.

Two thumbs way up!

Two thumbs way up for this coffee - one from myself, the other from my wife (we aren't usually in such agreement on the MCC offerings)! I really like when a coffee reminds me of maple syrup, as this one does.

Unique Taste Profile

Different than the typical flavor set. Tasted a bit of lime and acidity at the start but the finish was smooth. One of the more unique flavor profiles over the most recent months. Very much enjoyed it. I'm a boring brewer - fine grind in a slow drip maker (bu gets the job done when I need it ready in the morning).

Hello, What kind of drip maker do you use? I'm on an endless search for the best one.

So good

I go back and forth with some medium roast stuff. I love the contrast with this.

I Recommend this One

As soon as I opened the bag I couldn’t stop smelling this coffee. The first cup left me wanting more. I recommend trying this one!

Great cup overall, but some mixed feelings

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this coffee. I brewed a 24g/350ml @ 205ºF on a Chemex. It is delicate and light, the initial sip is very black-tea like with a light mouthfeel and a gentle ripe berry note. This transforms to a lingering caramel-creaminess. Overall it's a delicious and complex coffee, but I do wish the flavor had a little more punch.

One of the Tops

This coffee is delicious! It does have a nice tropical fruit accent-a little hard to distinguish what type though-maybe guava and pineapple? Also the lingering mild berry taste seems to be throughout the coffee. It has a good body and does not seem very acidic. It has a really nice finish. I did pour over on Kalitta Wave and mid temp (maybe 201-203) seemed to work great. www.needGod.com

Absolutely Delicious

The first taste of this coffee was delicious. And every one after. Highly recommend this bag.

Not for me

Fairly new to the specialty coffee world so this one is a bit too unique for me. Still trying to learn how to dial in my perfect cup. I taste tart tropical fruits.

I'd recommend trying to brew this with Aeropress. Also could try to turn down temp of the water for the brew. Or little bit coarser grind if hotter water. I only make these suggestions because this is one of my favorite naturally processed coffees in years. Get rid of the tartness and find fruitiness with a nice acidity.

Don't love naturals, but this was decent

We have enjoyed drinking this. I would not normally choose a natural process, but this was okay. Not too funky.
