We often speak of coffee farmers' expertise and how generations of knowledge are applied to produce exceptional coffees. This is certainly the case with El Salvador's Salaverria family, who has been growing high-quality coffee in the Santa Ana region for six generations. But at their Santa Julia farm, the plants themselves also have generations of experience! These premium beans come from old growth bourbon plants, which can produce excellent coffee cherries for up to 50 years. With skilled farmers tending the same plants for decades you're bound to get exceptional quality and out-of-this-world flavor, and Santa Julia doesn't disappoint.

What we love most about Santa Julia is how smooth the flavors are. The cup is overflowing with a milk chocolate taste that creates a mellow and inviting base for a juicy red grape note. There's also an almond nuttiness that pairs well with the chocolate note and contributes to the overall silkiness of the flavor profile. We were impressed with how steady and polished these flavors are, almost like these beans have been practicing for years to find the perfect balance. It's the sort of coffee that effortlessly begs a second cup. Don't say we didn't warn you!

Incredibly smooth

Santa Julia was a really nice way to get my subscription started because I could tell the quality of the bean as soon as smelt it. It would probably work much better as a pour over brew but using it as espresso allowed the milk chocolate & hazelnut notes to fill the cup, the lighter roast that allowed the fruity quality was something I personally don’t look for in a bean but it didn’t throw me entirely off. 3.5 - 5 and for a snob, that’s not to bad. Cheers.

Smooth, with just enough complexity to be interesting

Usually I'm more interested more in complexity of flavors than smoothness. While this coffee definitely screams "smooth!" it also keeps the flavors evolving and interesting enough to keep me interested. Highly recommended.

Very solid and extremely fruity.

Results in a really nice cup of coffee. My first two brews have been very different grind sizes but my impressions are: The fruit notes are very forward, not particularly sweet or complex but very tasty. Another reviewer mentioned a slight burnt taste; I found this to be very pleasant, and mostly evident in a slight toast aroma during brew as opposed to the over-roasted type of burnt. Not my favorite from Moustache but some good coffee.

Santa Julia

Unique flavor with the red grape but not a fan and the caffeine seems low on this one.

Pleasant

Pleasant enough but not a lot of interesting flavors, at least when brewed in our Bonavita. Might try french press for this one.
