El Rosal Nariño — Colombia, Nariño
From the high-altitude municipalities of La Unión, San Lorenzo, and Arboleda in Colombia's Nariño department, this lot brings together the work of various smallholder farmers growing Castillo, Caturra, and Colombia varietals between 1,850 and 2,200 meters. The steep Andean terrain and cool temperatures here push slow, even cherry development — and the results in the cup show it.
After harvest, the coffee goes through a careful washed process with 60-80 hours of fermentation, which helps build clarity and complexity. Expect plum and brown sugar sweetness up front, with a bright lift of citrus that keeps things lively as it cools.
We've loved exploring Nariño through coffees like our past San Carlos and La Esmeralda lots — this one carries that same regional character with its own distinct personality.
Clean, sweet, and expressive — a great example of what Nariño smallholders do best.
