We're very excited for another lot from brothers Hernan & Eugenio Prieto Soto - who together farm coffee at Finca Villa Clabelina in Antioquia, Colombia. Their family has been growing coffee on the property for over 50 years, and they are members and leaders in the local coffee growers association. This is a smaller lot subdivided from their 105,000 coffee trees - hence the name "Clabelinota" - but the flavors are anything but diminutive.
This is a rich coffee with dessert-like qualities, a mix of cane sugar, caramel, and chocolatey tones conjure images of warm cookies or salted caramel parfaits. It's a departure from the other lot we featured from Villa Clabelina this season that leaned more into strawberry and fruit notes - but that's the beauty of an operation as organized as the one the Prioto Sotos run. Lots are well-separated and processed with care, which allows different flavors to come into their own for each lot. Treat yourself to a cup, and maybe another... and another. Bottoms up!
