Description: This lot is from 5 different smallholders in southern Huila. It is part of an interesting new idea that is being tried out. Many small farmers in Huila have different varietals planted on their farms. Many of these are slightly more exotic varieties like pink bourbon or in this case Pacamara. Historically, with farmers this small who might not have enough for a separate micro lot the farmers would just have blended the coffee in with their regular coffee and you'd have a mix of different varietals for their coffee output. This experiment is collecting the various varietals from a number of small farmers so we have enough for a micro-lot preserving the consistency of the varietal by using the output from a number of different famers (five in this case). This way we get the clarity of a single lot Pacamara coffee and the farmers get rewarded for their endeavor. Also as always the reason we are doing this is that the coffee itself tastes delicious.
