Tigist Abyot — Ethiopia, Yirgacheffe
Tigist Abyot runs her 7.76-hectare farm in the Shashamene kebele of Kochere woreda, deep in the Yirgacheffe zone — one of Ethiopia's most celebrated coffee-growing regions. What began as a small plot gifted to Tigist and her husband after their marriage has grown into a thriving specialty operation, and 2025 marks the first year her coffee reaches the international market directly under her own name.
The farm sits at 1,800 meters, where cool nights and mild days slow cherry development and build complexity. Tigist and her family manage 135 raised drying beds with meticulous care — turning cherries six times a day and shielding them from rain and temperature swings over 15 to 21 days of careful drying. The result is a beautifully expressive natural with notes of honey and ripe peach, layered with floral aromatics and berry sweetness.
From the same storied Yirgacheffe region as other Ethiopian coffees we've loved at Moustache Coffee Club, this lot stands apart — traceable to a single family.
A coffee with a story as sweet as the cup itself — and a producer we're proud to help introduce to the world.
