Description

Variety: Bourbon, Caturra, Catuai, Typica

Processing: Washed

Crop Year: 2016

Origin: Atitlan, Guatemala

Producer: Cerro Lancandon Chochajau

Altitude: 1600-1800m

This coffee will have traveled very far to meet you, unless you're living on the pristine shores of Lake Atitlan in the Guatemalan highlands. Tended by expert farmers on the Cerro Lancandon farm near the lake, these beans took advantage of the mountain's volcanic history to produce some extraordinary flavors. These beans were soaked and washed three times before being spread out to air-dry. The care taken in consistent processing lead to remarkably strong flavors: a ripe berry sweetness paired with a sultry spice taste creates an intense cup of coffee that you'll be sure to remember. Some nice peach notes and hints of incense fill out the aroma, making for a coffee that's as enticing to brew as it is to drink!

Encore! We got so much positive feedback about this coffee and we could source more so we are happy to ship it again. Enjoy!

The quality of EVERY coffee we receive is simply incredible. This one was special. So easy to drink yet it carried a flavor that really stood out. We drank it all in just 4 days! Always looking forward to our next delivery.

Another winner

Unpronounceable name, but excellent coffee. If you prefer light to medium roasts, and something different to try every time, this club is for you.

Solid Coffee

I really enjoyed this coffee when I did a Japanese iced coffee method in my V60. It has been full flavored in my Aeropress as well. Wish it had more of the sweet, fruity notes.

Once I got this dialed in it was a great coffee. Very juicy with sweet fruity notes.

Wide Range of Flavor

The incense and spices are most prevalent to me in this cup. As it cools, a nice sweetness follows. Although a prefer a little lighter roast, this was a great cup. Done on v60

First pouch after coming back - one of my favs!

This is a solid coffee. The flavors seem quite mellow to me, but very enjoyable. I'm brewing it each morning with my Chemex and drinking it chilled in the afternoon. It has been a very welcome, unique surprise.

Wonderful

I've had this subscription for over a year, and this was probably the best ever. Wonderfully smooth and such a balanced acidity. Brewed it in the chemex and French press, and both showcased it great.

By far my favorite coffee of all time

Can't even put into words how much we both loved this one! I just finished the bag today and I'm feeling desperate for more!

Faaaaaaantastic

This coffee is making a solid showing as espresso and pour over- Can't wait to try it out in the French Press and maybe some cold brew later on. Love the spicy notes- very evocative of Autumn which is my favorite time of year. A+

Solid showing

This is a great coffee, especially in the summer time. There seems to me an almost tea-like thinness to the mouthfeel on the greeting. The flavor lingers in the mouth and has a little sweetness--I'm new to describing and don't want to rely on the notes on the bag too much, but maybe stonefruit, or citrus-- and is followed by a mineral aftertaste, like the scent of slate in warm rain. Is that over the top? So be it. This is my second favorite coffee I've received from Moustache.

Seemed flat

Couldn't get it dialed in with my v60, not to say it wasn't good, it just wasn't great in my opinion. I'm not sure the Guatemalans are peeking yet. I'm loving the Africans in the meantime.

Cant get the flavour right?

This is the first shipment Ive had, but I cant seem to get the dosage/brewing right. Im using a Wilfa Aroma grinder, set to aeropress and use the inverted press (1.5 aeropress scoops, 80c temp, 20sec bloom, stir, 1min brew, slow extract). But tastewise I cant get it right. The sweet aftertaste is wonderful, and the smooth oils is supreme, but I cant get any real flavour/body except the aftertaste. Is this just the type of beans or am I doing it wrong?

Chochajau wants to deliver

First cup made too strong, no flavor nuances. This coffee can really extract. Later cups spicey with nice dry acid finish..

A wonderful bean for a lazy summer afternoon

This is my first batch from MCC and I am very happy. I have tried it with both AeroPress and pour over. Both were great, but I think the pour over won with these beans. The bloom was good enough to bring my non-coffee-loving wife over to enjoy the aroma. The flavor profile of the first sip felt a bit off balance with the fruity flavors overtaking the spices. Once the oils went to work, however, the taste became a pleasant blend that was perfect for an afternoon of sipping and writing. I'm a bit sad that I only have a few more days with these wonderful beans, but I hope to have them again in the future.

Works very well with the Chemex brewing method. Its even better and more refreshing when brewed over ice.

First shipment

Great first trial! Has me considering switching coffee companies. Makes me not want to use other coffee. Used in Chemex, very flavorful and smooth.

Chochajau

This has been my favorite so far. My wife even commented on how excellent the flavor is and she isn't typically discerning when it comes to coffee. Send me some more!

Chochajau

Couldn't get the flavors to come out in the v60 like I wanted. Still a nice balanced cup. I guess I prefer coffees with overwhelming flavors, like Ethiopias or Kenyas. This one is a little too subtle for me.
