This one's a showstopper. From the fertile red soils of Nyeri, perched between Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare range, the Gikanda Kangocho factory brings us a vibrant, juicy coffee with clean acidity and a fruit basket of flavor. Think crisp key lime, tart-sweet apple, a touch of honey, and that rich, ripe red plum finish we can’t get enough of. Elegant, structured, and totally sip-worthy.
The Kangocho factory is part of the Gikanda Farmers’ Cooperative Society, a group of 781 member farmers committed to excellence. Located just 5 km from Karatina, this washing station sits at an elevation of 1600–1800 meters, where cool nights and volcanic soil help produce bright, complex coffees year after year.
Cherries are picked ripe and processed with precision: de-pulped using fresh Ragati river water, then fermented overnight to let the natural sugars break down. The result? A washed coffee with superb clarity. Post-fermentation, it’s all about those raised beds—turning, drying, and caring for every single lot until it's ready for export.
Kangocho isn’t just about coffee—it’s about community. The cooperative offers its farmers agronomic training, field supervision, and welfare programs like school fee loans and medical support. It’s coffee with purpose, and you can taste the difference in every cup.
