Description:
La Esperanza — Colombia, Huila
A beautifully expressive washed Caturra from Pitalito, Huila, grown at 1,800 meters by Alexander Hernández on his family farm, La Esperanza.
In the cup, expect a comforting base of caramel and chocolate, layered with almond and hazelnut sweetness. As it cools, brighter notes come forward—soft citric acidity, delicate florals, and hints of tropical fruit that keep things lively without ever feeling loud. It’s elegant, balanced, and deeply drinkable.
What sets this coffee apart is the thoughtful processing. After hand-selecting ripe cherries, Alexander uses a 24-hour aerobic pre-fermentation followed by a 50-hour anaerobic fermentation. This careful combination builds syrupy sweetness and clarity, while preserving the classic structure of a classic washed Colombian profile. A mix of raised-bed and mechanical drying, followed by a 30-day stabilization period, ensures a clean, polished cup that shines across brew methods.
A refined, comforting coffee with just enough sparkle. Shipped fresh every week.
